Background

Amnon Koren received a B.S. degree in Biology in 2002 and a M.S. degree in Genetics in 2003 from Tel-Aviv University.  He received a Ph.D. degree in Genetics from The Weizmann Institute of Science in 2008 and trained as a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.  In September 2015, he was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Molecular Biology & Genetics at Cornell University.

Research Description

The Koren lab studies the genetics and genomics of DNA replication timing and mutation rates. We apply genomic approaches to measure DNA replication timing, to link it to underlying genetic variation and epigenetic states, and to explore its effects on the generation of mutations and on the establishment of gene expression programs. Our research is focused mainly on human cells and to a lesser extent on yeast. We apply diverse genetic approaches in these studies, ranging from genetic perturbations to genetic associations and computational genomic analyses.
