Understanding how DNA mismatch repair proteins act in repair and genetic recombination

Population genetics and comparative genomics. Our current work focuses on population genetics and comparative functional genomics of genes that regulate germ line stem cells in Drosophila, with particular focus on the bag of marbles (bam) gene.

We perform genetic, molecular evolutionary, and genomic studies of speciation, transposable element regulation, genome stability, and meiotic segregation, using both Drosophila as an experimental organism as well as human genomic and polymorphism data.

My laboratory investigates post-transcriptional gene regulation, using experimental and computational genomics, together with traditional experimental approaches. Projects include mechanistic and in vivo studies of post-transcriptional regulation.
