Jaclyn Bubnell awarded 2023 Wellnitz Prize for a Paper by a GGD Student. Her paper “Functional Divergence of the bag-of-marbles Gene in the Drosophila melanogaster Species Group” was published in teh June 17, 2022 edition of Molecular Biology and Evolution. Jaclyn graduated in December 2020 and currently is a postdoc in the Department of Molecular Biology & Genetics, lab of Chip Aquadro.
John Frank’s first author research paper entitled “Evolution and Antiviral Activity of a Human Protein of Retroviral Origin” was recognized LPS Best Paper of the Year by a graduate student in the field of Genetics, Genomics & Development (GGD). John’s paper was published in the October 27, 2022 issue of Science. John is mentored by Cedric Feschotte.
